Twirl-M's Memorial Day Parade Lineup Information - Monday, May 25, 2009
Walled Lake Memorial Day Parade Lineup - Twirl-M's
  • Twirl-M's marching in Walled Lake Memorial Day Parade, RAIN OR SHINE, Monday, May 25
  • Twirl-M's are unit #64-66
  • Lineup at corner of East Lake Drive and Liberty
  • Lineup at 10:30 a.m. SHARP
    • Make sure your twirler goes to the bathroom BEFORE coming to the lineup area.  There are no restrooms.
    • Your twirler should be dressed in layers in the event that it is cold.  Have all her clothing well marked so that when we take off jackets hers will be returned to her.
    • Have your twirler bring her own water bottle with name on it for after the parade.
  • Parents drop off your twirler with one of the coaches.  We will be at the lineup area.
  • Parents, then make your way to view the parade.  Best place to sit is at Burger King of McDonalds on Maple.  That area.
  • Please DO NOT walk along side of us.  We will take good care of your twirler.
  • As you see us march by you, please IMMEDIATELY make your way to our disband area, which is the Vet Hospital next to the Walled Lake Library.  There, we will take a group picture, drink our water bottles, and get all students back to their families.  Please DO NOT ask your twirler to meet you somewhere.  I will not release them unless you are there in person to pick them up.
  • The parade begins at 11 a.m.   We will be done with the parade by Noon.
  • The uniform for the parade is as follows:
    • Purple/black costume (or for those who did not purchase one, black shorts and black Twirl-M's shirt).
    • Tan, #72 light toast Danskin hose
    • Tan shoes
    • Hair in a bun with matching scrunchy around the bun
    • Be sure the bun is slicked back and well secured
    • Light makeup with pink lipstick
    • Bring your baton, no end caps
    • No earrings, jewelry, or nail polish
  • Remember, rain or shine so dress accordingly with your outerwear.
  • Coach and parent walkers...black pants or shorts, no jeans, Twirl-M's shirt or jacket.
  • Let's have fun and show the community what twirling is all about!!!!

  • Remember:
    1. In Parking Lot by 7:15 a.m., Gate #4
    2. In Zoo through Gate A by 7:30 a.m.
    3. Walk around Zoo until 8:10 a.m.
    4. Meet at 8:10 a.m at Picnic Grove for parade.
    5. Parade step off at 8:30 a.m.
    6. Done by 9 a.m.
  • Dress Warmly.  Uniform underneath.
  • Hair in a bun. 
  • No earrings.
  • No jewelry.
  • No nail polish.
  • Purple/black costume or Twirl-M's shirt and shorts.
  • Tan #72 light toast hose, Danskin.
  • Tan shoes.

Memorial Day 2008 was perfect in every way. The Twirl-M's looks forward to participating in another Walled Lake Memorial Day Parade.
The Spring session features a Memorial Day Parade performance in Walled Lake on Monday, May 25th.  In addition, a tentative Zoo Walk Parade performance is scheduled where participating twirlers will march through the Zoo to open the Kidney Foundation Walk for a Cure.

Session dates are Monday, March 23 through Monday, May 25th with no classes held on April 6 and April 13.  Times are:

New - 5:30-6 p.m.
Novice and Pre-Team #1 -5:30-6:15 p.m.
Pre-Team #2 and Junior Team - 6-7 p.m.
Team - 6-8:30 p.m.

The Twirl-M's led the parade at the Zoo Walk in 2007 and 2008. We hope to do it again in 2009! Come join us!!!
A tradition in the Memorial Day Parade is for our 8th graders to lead the group. In 2008, Amy Vailliencourt (L) and Courtney Stachowiak did a great job leading us down the streets of Walled Lake.
